They’re up and running – Story Planner Workbooks

I’ve finally done it! Workbooks are a Go!

Six Story Planner WorkbooksSo many people have asked me to create a worksheet or planner to go with Character and Structure. Part of the problem was that there was just so much to put in.

I tried creating Word and Excel templates, but they were either too fiddly to get right or too difficult to use (or both). I even looked into creating an App that would do it, but the challenge was a little too big for a mere writer.

And then I hit on the idea of publishing specific workbooks for specific situations – old fashioned pen and paper workbooks. A little research showed me I could create large format ‘books’ on Amazon and other places.

Problem solved!

So if you’ve ever struggled to plan a novel or script, I can help you with a workbook to do it in. The basic Novel Planner and Script Planner not only help you outline your story, but they help you outline three!

That’s right. The two basic workbooks include three templates each, so even if you totally mess up there’s a couple of spares.

And the better news?

There’s better news

I’ve created Trilogy and Quadrilogy Planners, both of which include everything the regular Novel Planner does, but with an additional section at the front for your trilogy or quadrilogy.

So how do you plan a Trilogy or Quadrilogy? Just think of the entire series as one story, broken up into parts (a bit like the original Star Wars movies), with each part a story in its own right. I’ve even added an example using the entire (original) Star Wars trilogy.

The Trilogy and Quadrilogy Editions also include modified story structure templates created specifically for multiple stories.

And the even better news?

I know a lot of people hate outlining and planning stories. To be honest, I’m one of them. I’d rather get on with it. I’ve written books with no plan whatsoever and it’s fun, but exhausting. Most of the time it also leaves you with a huge mess to clean up.

I also know the value of having at least some idea of where the story’s going and the main points it needs to hit. Both the Fast and Free and Concept Tester Editions are the ‘lite’ versions of story planning, just enough to see the path ahead with no distractions.

Both editions have 20 simplified templates that demand the minimal amount of information needed to write (or troubleshoot) a story.

Each template has a one-page story overview section and a second page to jot down all the major story points.

And still there’s more

I’m also planning a Deep Dive Edition – both a Novel and Script version. They will include all the questions from Character and Structure as well as the same story planner template from the basic version.

I just need some time to put it together.

And there you have it. Six companion workbooks and a couple more to come. Who knows? I might even do an omnibus edition one day… Or how about a NaNoWriMo edition with a daily journal to record your output? The possibilities…

(Amazon’s been pretty slow in approving these, so some are up on Amazon, some are available at other retailers, but they’ll all be out everywhere eventually.)

Grab the one that’s right for you.
